How a Crowdfunding Campaign Brought Me So Much More Than Money

As many of you know already, I’ve been selected (alongside my sister Nathalie) as one of the 50 Emerging leaders of Atlantic Canada.  We will attend a Summit of all 50 leaders from the 4 Atlantic provinces next week. This post is to talk about our fundraising for this event. We both needed to raise $500, so we decided to do a crowdfunding campaign. We are excited to say that we’ve achieved our objective. https://goo.gl/njg6IV Before continuing, I would like to thank all our supporters for their generous contributions. It is humbling and touching to have received such support. Thank … Continue reading How a Crowdfunding Campaign Brought Me So Much More Than Money

How the PEI Marathon Will Inspire You to Run (More)

Today was the PEI Marathon and I ran a 1/2 Marathon (21kms) with a group of friends. And what a great day! This Post aims to report some lessons from this and benefits of running in hopes to inspire others to be inspired to run (or run more). Benefits include: Comraderie/Friendship: Having run with a group, it really built a sense of comraderie and brought us closer. Positivity: The atmosphere was so positive throughout. People cheering in front of their houses, or on the streets. It’s very hard to be negative on this day! Fall colours/Fresh Air: The run took … Continue reading How the PEI Marathon Will Inspire You to Run (More)

A Quick Shortcut to Eat More Veggies and Eat Less Junkfood

We always hear it. The way to health goes through veggies! I struggle to eat my fair share of veggies. One of the main reasons being that when I want to snack, I use the “path of less resistance”, which means cookies, toast + peanut butter, chips, even fruit, or whatever tasty snack is available to me! So my question was: How can I make it easy on myself to eat veggies? The answer: make it accessible and easy! You’ll find pictures of my system. I have a tray of veggies with hummus (and some nuts), as to have healthy … Continue reading A Quick Shortcut to Eat More Veggies and Eat Less Junkfood

What do you consider to be the most pressing world issue?

What do you consider to be the most pressing world issue?  This is a question I’ve been asked as part of my 21inc Leadership training, and I found it hard to answer… is it climate change? is it poverty? I thought about long and hard, and here is the fruit of my reflections: I believe all the issues named above (climate change, immigration, war, poverty etc.) all stem from common traits of greed (and the corollary, lack of compassion). For me, it is the common behaviour of many humans to take more than they give back. This obviously leads to imbalance. … Continue reading What do you consider to be the most pressing world issue?

Increasing Your Life Fulfillment With Einstein’s Wise Words

A quote can change a life, inspire or give purpose. A few days ago, I read a compilation of incredible quotes on success, 101 in total. I recommend to read through if you have 5 minutes! Albert Einstein’s quote really struck me this time around: Try not to become a person of success, but rather try to become a person of value. –-Albert Einstein Brilliant. Powerful. I feel like I’ve been selfish in my life recently. Always asking “What can I get out of this? What can this person bring me?” What I’m slowly learning and what is “common wisdom” is that to … Continue reading Increasing Your Life Fulfillment With Einstein’s Wise Words

Practical Lessons on How to Accomplish Your Biggest Life Goals

These are photos from a race from Summerside to Charlottetown, my longest voyage of the year! Most of us have “big dreams”, that we hope to “someday” accomplish. They often stay as “someday” projects as they seem to ambitious or distant. In my case, my “big dream” is to sail around the world, this is a dream I’ve had since sailing on the tall ship “Sorlandet” as part of the Class Afloat program.  I didn’t make progress on this objective… until this Summer. Why didn’t I make headway on this project? Because I was focusing on the end goal, i.e. … Continue reading Practical Lessons on How to Accomplish Your Biggest Life Goals

How to Use Your Mind to Become Superhuman

Yesterday, I watched a documentary on “the Iceman”, this strange/fascinating 50 year old Dutch man who defies what we think we know about physiology.  The man, Wim Hof, holds 20 Guiness records and has defied science by being able to be submerge for almost 2 hours in ice, WITHOUT change to his body temperature. I am VERY intrigued. He and his students have done numerous tests with scientists/doctors and seems it checks out. Meditation/breathing techniques are what seem to be key to power, health and happiness says Hof. From a Sense of Purpose One of the interesting elements of the story … Continue reading How to Use Your Mind to Become Superhuman
