Lessons from Jaromir Jagr on How to Live Life By Your Own Terms

Here is article on Jaromir Jagr who says he wants to play in the NHL until he’s 50 years old! Considering the average “expiry date” or retirement age of an NHLer is 28 years old, the fact that he’s still playing (and producing!) at 43 is incredible. He’s already one of the 10 oldest players to play in history. And looking at him now, and what he’s done to this young Panthers team, it’s not unthinkable that he could keep going till 50. What I take out of this, personnally is that “nothing is written in stone”. There are no … Continue reading Lessons from Jaromir Jagr on How to Live Life By Your Own Terms

How Team Sports Changed My Life and How I’m Going To Give Back

From Nintendo “Geek” to Athlete As a kid, if you asked anyone to describe me in one word, it would be “Nintendo”. I was obsessed. I sat for hours upon hours in front of the TV screen playing Nintendo and Super Nintendo until my teens. I believe it was both a symptom and a cause of my being overweight, unconfident and relatively recluse. I sought and found comfort in video games where I could “rack up experience” to become a level 99 paladin and annihilate everything! As a result, I was grossly underactive and overweight. In Grade 10, I discovered team sports. I … Continue reading How Team Sports Changed My Life and How I’m Going To Give Back

What is Success and What is Keeping You From Having Success?

I just saw this article on my twitter feed and it caught my eye. The article opens with a mention of “negative self talk” and about the “disempowering” factors that get us down and hold us back. I’m very interested in these factors, and as to “why” those disempowering thoughts happen. That being said, in this post, we’ll look one of the points they bring up, the point of “lack of vision”, we’ll leave the points 2-3-4 for now, as I think lack of vision is the basis. Lack of Vision “We tend to get what we focus on, and what we don’t focus … Continue reading What is Success and What is Keeping You From Having Success?

My Experience with a Productivity Coach and the Difference Between What’s “URGENT” and What’s Truly “Important”

Over the past 3 and 1/2 years, I’ve embarked on a journey to “carve my own path”. I left the 9-to-5 lifestyle, and became an entrepeneur. I had several reasons: Freedom: I wanted to be free to choose my own schedule, my own vacation time and ultimately, I wanted to have control over my own life, and what I do with it (and, for instance, not work an arbitrary amount of hours a week). Fulfillment: I wanted to work in what I believed in. My work experiences in the past have been great, but often, I would end up doing certain tasks that … Continue reading My Experience with a Productivity Coach and the Difference Between What’s “URGENT” and What’s Truly “Important”

Financial Management Scary? Naaa! Not If Know Grade 2 Arithmetics!

Money is scary to a lot of people and they’d rather run the other way instead of understanding how it works!  I am passionate about personal finances, not because I’m some greedy, capitalistic pig, but rather because I believe money is a powerful tool to help us achieve all that truly makes us happy and fulfilled. Much like a hammer is a tool we use to build a house, money is a tool that we can use to … well do anything! I believe that money management scares a lot of people, because it can appear so complicated and misunderstood. I recently this article … Continue reading Financial Management Scary? Naaa! How to Eat Healthier, Save Time and Save Money

For some reason, I’m always looking for ways to save time and be more efficient. I also am very fond of saving money and I have a life goal of living till 117 years old, and therefore want to be as healthy as possible. So, I found myself losing a lot of time and energy thinking about food: what to get? what to make? when? I would spend lots of time thinking about it, and no time actually making food, let alone getting the ingredients for it. I also knew that I had “good recipes” except I couldn’t think about … Continue reading How to Eat Healthier, Save Time and Save Money

Want a Quick Path to Prosperity? Start Sharing

Yesterday, I listened to a very interesting report on the “Sharing Economy” on CBC Radio. Audio link + written transcript here I knew about Sharing Economy “Staples” such as Air B&B and Uber, and I did learn quite a bit from report as well. For instance, did you know that there are 80 million power drills in North America. Did you know the average total time they will be used? 13 minutes. TOTAL! For a lifetime! The other fact they bring up is that cars generally sit idle for 23 hours in a day as well. So WHY are we buying … Continue reading Want a Quick Path to Prosperity? Start Sharing

Say Bye to Fear and Hello to Life

I was recently at a fantastic Acadian singer-songwriter event with my cousins Patricia and Marcella Richard as well as Kit Goguen, Fayo. They played many of my aunt Angèle Arsenault’s songs and their own. Anyway the show itself was fantastic and the venue/size of the crowd made it interactive and intimate. One of the songs that really stuck out for me was a collaboration from Angèle and Patricia called “Adieu la peur, salut la vie”. It translates to “Say Bye to Fear and Hello to Life”, but sounds so much better in French. Angèle had a gift to find those little … Continue reading Say Bye to Fear and Hello to Life

Why Does Everything Always Happen to Me?

Ever wonder questions such as: Why does everything happen to me? Why am I always surrounded by imbeciles? Why do I always have bad luck in love? Why do bad things just happen to me? Why do I always end up working with unreasonable people? Why do I always end up getting the short end of the stick? Why am I always getting screwed over? In other words, do you notice certain patterns in your life? I certainly have. And as far as I’m concerned, whenever this happens, this generally points to something happening in myself. I came to this … Continue reading Why Does Everything Always Happen to Me?
